Make Jewelry dot Shop is a directory of jewelry-making suppliers, instructors and schools, and handmade jewelry designers. It’s owned by Up the Mountain, LLC. We want you to always know when money is involved, so here’s how the site is paid for.

Affiliate links

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you.

In the page code, affiliate links are marked rel="sponsored", the way search engines ask.
On listing pages and articles, an affiliate link carries a short note next to it, such as “(affiliate link),” or the page has a note near the top.
Whether a business has an affiliate program doesn’t decide whether it’s listed, and it doesn’t change what we say about it. Many of the businesses we list have no affiliate program at all.

Featured and paid listings

Basic listings are free, and they’ll stay free. In the future, we may offer businesses optional paid upgrades, such as a featured spot on a category page or a sponsored article.

Any listing or article that was paid for will always be clearly labeled “Featured” or “Sponsored” wherever it appears.
Paying doesn’t buy a good review. The facts on a listing come from the business’s own website and other public sources, and we note when we last checked them.

Display ads

We may show display ads on some pages, for example through Google AdSense or a similar ad network, to help cover the cost of running the site. Ads are chosen by the ad network, not by us, and an ad appearing here isn’t an endorsement. Ad networks may use cookies. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How listings are chosen

We add businesses that we believe are useful to people who make jewelry. We check them against their own websites before publishing. We keep some long-respected businesses listed even after they close, clearly marked, out of respect for what they gave the community.
